A Long-Standing History within the Insurance Industry
At Schomer Insurance, our Pierz insurance agency has officially been established since 1963; however, we are able to trace our insurance roots back to a much earlier year in time.
- Around 1913: R.M. Stoll and A.P. Stoll incorporated their insurance agency, calling it Stoll & Stoll, Inc.
- 1960s: The agency changed its name to Farmers & Merchants Insurance Agency, Inc., to reflect the bank that owned it.
- 1963: W.B. Schomer starts Willie Schomer Agency.
- 1985: Willie Schomer Agency undergoes a name change, becoming Pioneer Company Insurance.
- 1990: The bank sells Farmers & Merchants Insurance Agency to John Christenson of Crosby, MN, who made it a sole proprietorship.
- 1992: Howie Schomer purchases Farmers & Merchants Insurance Agency. He adds several new property, casualty, life and health insurance companies.
- 1994: After several location changes, Pioneer Company Insurance moves to 227 Main Street North ~ Pierz, MN.
- 1997: W.B. Schomer passes away and Howie Schomer purchases this agency too. Howie merges the two firms (Farmers & Merchants Insurance Agency and Pioneer Company Insurance) together, creating a single agency called Schomer Insurance. At that same time the resulting agency moved into its current location in downtown Pierz at 227 Main Street North.
